Nobody will be able to leave or enter the Emirate of Abu Dhabi from today (2nd June) for one week.

Abu Dhabi has closed its borders and travel between the cities of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafrah is prohibited during the same time period.

The news broke Sunday evening during an announcement from Abu Dhabi Media Office via the Abu Dhabi Emergency and Crisis Committee for the Covid-19 Pandemic, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police and the Department of Health.

The latest policy is part of a string of policies in place to protect public health and safety.

The travel restrictions affect residents and UAE nationals. As usual, frontline workers, those needing to visit healthcare providers outside their area and those transporting goods between regions will be exempt.

Those who are exempt will still be required to apply for a move permit.

Abu Dhabi’s borders are expected to reopen on Tuesday, 9th June.
